Hi, I’m Craig, and welcome to Camping With Kids, the UK’s friendliest guide to getting outside with your children.

I’m a parent based in the UK, and camping with my kids is genuinely one of my favourite things in the world. There’s something about nights in a tent, campfire cooking, and watching your children run free in the countryside that I find hard to beat.

But I’ll be honest, those first few trips weren’t exactly smooth. I’ve turned up to a campsite without a mallet. I’ve tried to put up a tent in the dark in the rain with a toddler on my hip. I’ve discovered, the hard way, that not all sleeping bags are created equal when it’s 5°C and your seven-year-old is refusing to sleep.

I started this site because I wished something like it had existed when I began taking my kids camping. Every piece of advice, every gear recommendation, every campsite review on here comes from real experience, mine, and from the wider community of UK families who love camping as much as I do.
